the sheila divine

Last night at Rumours, in between bottles of overpriced wine, I was talking to a girl who was in school at Berklee around the same time I was in Boston, and we were swapping stories about bands and venues we used to frequent. I was surprised that she had heard of The Sheila Divine, a band I had befriended while I was up there — but I guess I forgot how popular they were up there for a while. I still have a sealed copy of their first single laying around somewhere.

Anyways, I was browsing around and I found the totally awesome home page I made for them back in the day.. (The archive.org cache is from 2001, but it must have been around 1998 that I made the page). Behold my tremendous web-design skillz.

It made me miss Boston a lot. I need to get back up there to visit.

Sounds like y’all need to come on up for a little Sheila Divine reunion weekend! They ARE still kinda big up here. Or at least the lead singer is (Aaron something I think?). His new band, Dear Leader plays all the time at the Middle East and the Paradise. And I think he lives in my hood somewhere. Saw him walk by my porch the other day. That’s cool you found the old website! I remember first seeing you put that together in your BU dorm room.

Well, I had never heard of the Sheila Divine before the other night, but I was there on the momentous occasion when Chris realized that in this great big world of ours a sense of smallness was appreciated when he shared a moment with an until then stranger…beautiful, truly beautiful.
