real cowboys

These girls are taking a trip across America and they think these guys are real cowboys. In Nashville. Oh, girls. If only Nashville had real cowboys. If only. They probably bought those cowboy hats at Opry Mills.

Yeah. We actually do have cowboys hereabouts (Oklahoma, particularly rural Oklahoma, which surrounds my college town), of course, but they are rarely, uh, in uniform, or whatever. I mean, I have friends that raise cattle, and never wear those bloody hats. (Now, boots, yes, because there’s actually practical reasons. But the hats… I think you’re probably more likely to see baseball caps.)

That isn’t to say that cowboy chic doesn’t occur a lot here, too.

The joke in my family is that you can identify a real cowboy in a bar by asking to see the shit on his boots.

Those hats are obviously dress-up hats, anyway. It looks like they have on their dress Wranglers, too.

Contrary to what some people think, there are some “real” cowboys in Tennessee. I work on a horse ranch south of Nashville. While there are a lot of posers here, there are also a lot of “real” cowboys that occasionally go to the downtown Nashville honky-tonks for good music and drink. Don’t judge people until you talk to them and find out what it is they do. (P.S…my boots have gone through all kinds of horse and cattle shit..ha!)

Thank You
I am from Tennessee and I am both a cowboy and a farmer (thats right you can be both).I grew up on a tobacco farm and Ive worked with nearly every type of cattle there are and Ive been riding cowhorses since I was a kid (Im now 32).Im a trained calf roper and Ive penned, cut, sorted, branded, castrated, dehorned, doctored, assisted in calving and done nearly every type of cow or horse work there is and still found time to raise corn, rake hay and raise vegetables and grow tobacco.Ive never been to the Lone Star state and I dont feel I have to go there to prove myself. No offense to any Texans but if it hadnt been for Davey Crockett and his Tennessee Volunteers Texas would most likely be part of the Republic of Mexico and you cool cowboys would be wearing huge sombreros instead of stetsons
