I work on a horse ranch south of Nashville. While there are a lot of posers here, there are also a lot of "real" cowboys that occasionally go to the downtown Nashville honky-tonks for good music and drink. Don't judge people until you talk to them and find out what it is they do. (P.S...my boots have gone through all kinds of horse and cattle shit..ha!) We actually do have cowboys hereabouts (Oklahoma, particularly rural Oklahoma, which surrounds my college town), of course, but they are rarely, uh, in uniform, or whatever. I mean, I have friends that raise cattle, and never wear those bloody hats. (Now, boots, yes, because there's actually practical reasons. But the hats... I think you're probably more likely to see baseball caps.) That isn't to say that cowboy chic doesn't occur a lot here, too. -R Yeah.
