Amanda had Brendan Benson’s latest album, Alternative to Love on our emusic.com save list, so I went ahead and grabbed it. I had never heard of him, but it’s pretty good stuff. I wouldn’t say that it’s the greatest album ever or anything, but it’s definitely filling a power-pop void in my music listening that I’ve been meaning to fill.
A little bit of Teenage Fanclub here, a little Weezer there.. some Matthew Sweet, some Elvis Costello. I like it. The last song, Between Us, is pretty awesome, if only because it sounds exactly like a really good Oasis song. I may have to check out his other earlier albums.

On the other end of the spectrum, I also grabbed The Best of Astor Piazzolla, and it’s pretty awesome.
